If you follow me over on Instagram, you’ll know I have a bit of thing for flowers.
For more info about my DIY Bar Cart set up, please read this post.
They tend to feature quite heavily in my feed, thanks to a fairly cheap flower shed being located just up the road from the kid’s school.
On Friday afternoons they have specials and you can pick up a lovely bunch of flowers for anywhere between $8 and $15, depending on what you’re after.
I have to admit that I’m a bit useless when it comes to knowing the names of flowers and my floral decorating abilities stretch to throwing them in vase and hoping for the best, but tulips and lilies are my favourite flowers.
Although those stamen thingys in the middle of lilies are really annoying aren’t they? Do we have any florists amongst us that might be able to offer a solution as to how to remove them that doesn’t involve a vacuum cleaner or 37 tissues and 7 swear words? Asking for a friend, obviously.
I had a huge bunch of cream tulips for my wedding bouquet. Seriously, it was bigger than my head and was arranged in such a way that I had to drape them dramatically across my arm as I walked down the aisle.
It wasn’t really what I had in mind when I asked the florist for tulips, but I remember he was beside himself at the thought of being able to create a tulip bouquet as apparently in 1997 that was quite, and I quote, “cutting edge and VERY modern of you!”
I took that as a compliment and on the day, my bridesmaids and I had a good old laugh at how we could basically open a tulip shop after the reception with the amount of tulips we had between the 5 of us!
So tell me, what’s your favourite flower? Did they feature in your wedding bouquet?
