Today, in keeping with the high brow nature of this blog, I’m asking a very important question:
What’s your hidden talent?
Everyone’s got one, it’s just something that usually doesn’t come up in everyday conversation.
But when it does, it’s the sort of thing that you usually respond with a “Really?! How did I not know this about you?” or something along those lines.
I’m sure Pam won’t mind me telling you that her hidden talent is power walking.
She doesn’t do it professionally or anything and certainly doesn’t own a polyester tracksuit or a set of hand weights but get her in a shopping centre and Pam can power walk like she’s walking straight towards a gold medal!
Honestly, whenever I’m at the shops with her I have a very hard time keeping up with the rate at which her legs are walking and let me tell you, when it’s time to stop for a coffee, I feel like I also need some sort of sports drink with a protein shake chaser!
If you’d like to read some of Pam’s shopping tips, which strangely enough didn’t include power walking, head to this post.
As for my hidden talent, well, it might come as a bit of surprise for you to learn that I can play the piano.
I started piano lessons when I was 8 and had my last lesson at the age of 17.
Back then I could play pretty much anything put in front of me and considered becoming a music teacher until I realised I’d have to audition to get into the Conservatorium of Music (I was always SO nervous when I had to play in front of people back then!) so that idea didn’t last long!
I’ve still got the piano I learnt to play on and these days I can belt out the first few bars of Piano Man, American Pie or the theme to Oceans 11 and that’s about it.
I did try to teach both the kids the piano when they were smaller, but they weren’t really interested and have since found their own musical path, which involves the electric guitar and singing lessons (I’ll let you work out who does what!)
So now that I’ve shared my hidden talent, and Pam’s (sorry Mum!) tell me, what’s your hidden talent? I’d love to know!
