Yesterday I wrote a post about pushy sales people and it turns out that the gold magic clicking thing (AKA Touche Eclat by YSL) was what everyone REALLY wanted to know about.
Of course my answer led to other comments of ‘I want to see this Vlog’ and ‘looking forward to seeing this vlog!’ which may or may not have seen me frantically googling terms like how to do a makeup tutorial without looking like death warmed up and how to do a beauty vlog when you have no idea for the best part of an hour yesterday!
Never one to go back on my word, unless I’m sick or there’s a sale on injured, I set up my camera in the bathroom and belted out my very first beauty vlog.
Before I frighten you all with my semi-make up less face and in the interests of keeping things borderline professional, here’s what the official marketing people have to say about the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat – Radiant Touch
The beauty secret of the world’s top makeup artists and models, Touche Éclat is the original must-have for a radiant, flawless face. Capture 8 hours of sleep with the click of a pen. With a few strategic strokes of this award-winning complexion highlighter—dark circles, fine lines and signs of fatigue virtually disappear. Powered by the radiance-boosting Luminocaptide Complex, skin is instantly illuminated, so you look rested and refreshed—even if you’ve been up for hours. Sleek and sophisticated, it discretely slips into a makeup bag for quick touch-ups anytime. It’s the one beauty essential no woman should ever be without.
It retails in Australia for $59 and you’ll find it at any of the major department and beauty stores (I bought mine from the YSL counter at Myer, Westfield Carindale)
And now, here’s how I use it.
YSL Touche Eclat Review
Please note, some viewers may find the extreme close-ups in the following vlog highly offensive and unattractive. Can’t say I blame you. No perms were harmed in the making of this vlog. Parental Guidance is recommended and wine may also help.
The End Result:
Ok, so the photo below is completely untouched. It was taken using my trusty Olympus OM-D EM-10 and hasn’t been photoshopped, filtered or altered in any way (don’t ask me what on earth is going on with the eyeshadow situation on my right eye. It looked completely normal in the mirror but showed up with a weird white and brown line on my eye lid whenever the camera snapped a pic. Look closely, you’ll see it #soweird )
On my face I’m wearing:
Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Primer You can read my thoughts on that cult product in this post
YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation Shade: B 50 $85 I’ve only been using this foundation for a week, but I’m already loving its lightweight texture. Somehow it manages to even out my skin tone a bit and conceals some of the pigmentation that has risen to the surface of my skin in recent months, so that’s a win!
YSL Touche Eclat – Radiant Touch Colour 3.5 Luminous Almond $59 I’m not entirely sure the vlog I provided showed the Touche Eclat in its best light, but after many years of trying just about every eye cream and concealer on the market I think I’ve finally hit the dark circle jackpot.
2-3 small dabs of the product under my eye is enough to cover those pesky dark circles and I apply it after I’ve let the primer and foundation settle into my skin. I then set it with a light dust of loose powder and if those circles are looking particularly dark, I’ll give them a little bit more love with the magic gold pen.
The Touche Eclat can also be used to illuminate your cheekbones, make your lips look fuller, give your eyebrows a bit of a lift and even slim your nose. There’s a bit of an art to perfecting those techniques and for now, I’m still focusing on nailing the whole dark circle thing, so google is probably your best bet for any Touche Eclat illuminating tips.
Are you a fan of the magic gold pen? Did you choke on your weetbix while watching my first attempt at a beauty vlog? Don’t worry, I’ll be back to whipping up cocktails before you know it!
